A exclusividade do discurso da extrema-direita paraibana em defesa da anistia aos envolvidos nos atos de 8 de janeiro de 2023, foi quebrada. Dois deputados federais conservadores da Paraíba votaram a favor da urgência na tramitação do projeto de lei que trata do perdão aos condenados pelos atos antidemocráticos.
Anistia, sim: Mersinho Lucena (PP) e Wellington Roberto (PL) se posicionaram favoravelmente à proposta, surpreendendo setores mais radicais da direita no estado, que tentam monopolizar o discurso em defesa dos manifestantes.
O voto favorável dos parlamentares expõe divisões dentro da própria direita paraibana e enfraquece o discurso da autodenominada “verdadeira direita”, que vinha tentando se firmar como a única voz legítima em defesa da anistia.
Mersinho Lucena, que é filho do prefeito de João Pessoa, Cícero Lucena (PP), e Wellington Roberto, figura tradicional da política conservadora paraibana, agora se somam a um movimento nacional que busca acelerar a tramitação do projeto de lei, reacendendo o debate sobre os limites da punição e da liberdade de manifestação.
