Sanae Takaichi, líder do Partido Liberal Democrata do Japão, vai se tornar a primeira mulher a ser primeira-ministra do país, após vencer a votação no parlamento nesta terça-feira (21/10).
Takaichi recebeu 237 votos, superando a maioria dos 465 assentos da Câmara Baixa, de acordo com funcionários da Câmara dos Deputados do Japão.
Sua vitória rompe o teto de vidro em um país onde os homens detêm uma grande influência e coloca o Japão, aliado próximo dos EUA, em uma forte reviravolta para a direita.
A conquista ocorre depois que o Partido Liberal Democrata, que governou o Japão durante a maior parte de sua história do pós-guerra, concordou com um acordo de coalizão com o Partido da Inovação do Japão, de direita, conhecido como Ishin.
Ela assume o cargo em um momento em que o Japão enfrenta problemas econômicos e uma política fragmentada e em impasse, e poucos dias antes da visita programada do presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump.
